Homes Plus is helping you keep well and warm this winter

As living costs continue to rise and the temperature begins to drop, we’re supporting our customers through our Keep Well & Warm campaign which provides helpful advice on how to save money, stay safe and keep warm this winter.

If you’re struggling financially or concerned about how you’re going to heat your home, we're here to help.

You can find a warm and friendly welcome from our Employment and Money Advice (EMA) team at our three Community Hubs in Stafford and Shrewsbury. Our Hubs offer our customers, and the wider community, a wealth of support including free and confidential advice on money management, benefit entitlement and CV writing.

We have also partnered with the charity Period Power to offer free sanitary products and toiletries at all three of our Community Hubs, for those who are struggling.

“Following the huge success of our Keep Well and Warm campaign last year, the initiative is back for its second year,” said director of housing, Samantha Allcott.

“We know that many of our customers are struggling due to the high cost of energy bills and food costs.

“If you are worried about how you are going to pay for essential bills over the winter, please talk to us.

“Our friendly Employment and Money Advice team can chat to you about the support that may be available.

“We want to help all our customers to make sure they have a warm, safe and affordable home.”

Winter can be a challenging time, with many people experiencing the winter blues or feelings of loneliness and isolation. People aged 55+ who live in Stafford or South Staffordshire, can benefit from ReConnected – with free advice, activities and social events supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. For more information, visit our Care Plus website here.

While it can be hard to identify neglect or abuse, we’re also encouraging our customers to speak up if they have any safeguarding concerns. All you have to do is contact your local safeguarding board and they will take it from there. You can find the contact details on our website here.

For a round-up of the support available from the government, such as the Warm Home Discount Scheme and the Winter Fuel Payment you can visit our website, here. We will be updating this as new advice and information becomes available.

And we’ll be posting helpful tips on our Facebook page about how you can make sure your home is ready for winter.
