The responsibilities of the audit and risk committee are:
- Overseeing the internal audit programme
- Identifying and managing risks to the business on behalf of the Group board
The audit and risk committee report directly to the Housing Plus Group board and their main regulator, the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
Andrew Burns
Chair Andrew Burns
Throughout his 40-year career in public services, Andrew has developed a track record of successful strategic leadership and delivering transformational change to improve performance and deliver value for money. He is a qualified accountant and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) with an MBA from Aston Business School.
Andrew has a genuine passion for creating better outcomes for customers and communities and he feels great personal satisfaction from making a difference to the quality and affordability of public services, especially for those most vulnerable and most in need.
Andrew has significant board level experience, with responsibility for risk management, controls assurance and leading on internal and external audit relationships.
Jason Burt
Member Jason Burt
A lawyer by profession, in 2016 Jason left the legal practice that he had successfully helped to build into a Chambers and Legal 500 listed firm to join Willis Towers Watson as a specialist consultant. He is now responsible for overseeing the development of a range of regulatory and strategic risk management services for a wide range of national and international clients with specialisms in education and regulatory matters including health and safety and care standards.
Jason is also Group Director of Health and Safety Compliance (having previously served 3 years as a non-executive Director) of Mears PLC where he is chair of the Risk Compliance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.
With a passion for social enterprises and values, throughout his career Jason has chosen to work with not for profit businesses or businesses that have social values at the core of their operations
Rosalind Preen
Independent Member Rosalind Preen
Rosalind brings a wealth of experience to the Care Plus/Choices Common Board, having worked in the public care sector for more than 30 years. She has worked across all sectors of health including community, mental health and acute care.
Rosalind believes in equal chances and choices for all, especially when accessing services that support our health and wellbeing.
Rosalind is a qualified accountant and has many years of experience sitting on Boards within the NHS, using her financial skills to advise and support decision making.
Paul Riley
Independent Member Paul Riley
Paul holds more than 20 years’ experience across social care and health, gained from various executive, non-executive and trustee roles in children’s social care, education and mental health & learning disabilities. He made a conscious decision to move from working in commercial environments, during the first half of his career, to organisations with a social purpose and uses his business strategy and commercial experience to help make a positive difference to vulnerable people’s lives.
Paul is currently an associate consultant at the Institute of Public Care, Oxford Brookes University, and is involved in a range of Department for Health and Social Care commissioned projects.
He is passionate about social change and making sure vulnerable people are given the support and environment needed to live safe, fulfilling lives and achieve their ambitions.
Suzanne Forster
Executive Lead Suzanne Forster
Suzanne Forster joined the Group as Chief Financial Officer following her tenure at Excolo Housing Consultancy. She brings extensive executive experience from senior roles across both large housing associations and private sector organisations. Suzanne leads the Group’s strategic and operational functions in Finance, Treasury, Audit, Risk & Assurance, Legal & Governance, and Procurement. Her appointment reflects the Group’s commitment to strong financial stewardship and robust governance as it continues to grow and invest in its future.
