Bright spark Kaylee powers ahead with electrical apprenticeship

We’re thrilled to welcome Kaylee as she officially begins her five-year journey as an Electrical Apprentice with us.

Already a familiar face in the team, Kaylee first joined us through a T level industry placement, working one day a week alongside our electrical engineers for the past nine months.

Johnny, Electrical Qualified Supervisor said “We were approached by Newcastle and Stafford College’s Group (NSCG) back in 2024 to support work placements for their T level students. Our team is always keen to nurture future talent, so we were more than happy to get involved. That’s how we first met Kaylee – and she has been a fantastic addition ever since.

“I have had the pleasure of mentoring Kaylee during her work placement to make sure her experience has been both educational and supportive. Kaylee is such a bright spark (pun intended!) and I’m looking forward to seeing her grow even more as she embarks on an apprenticeship with us.”

Introduced in 2020, T Levels are technical qualifications equivalent to three A Levels, designed to prepare students for work, further training, or study. They combine classroom learning with industry placements and typically take two years to complete.

Steve, Group Electrical Manager, said “Kaylee has already shown herself to be enthusiastic, punctual, and full of initiative. She approaches every task with maturity and diligence, and she’s even beginning to show strong leadership qualities.”

Kaylee joins the team of 10 apprentices already in our Electrical department, benefitting from continued support from Johnny and Steve as she progresses in her career.

Reflecting on her journey so far, Kaylee said “It’s been great working with Johnny, Steve and the team so far. Everyone’s already been so supportive and that’s why I knew that an apprenticeship with HPG was the right next step for me!”

Steve added “I am personally delighted that we remain committed to developing the next generation of talent. I know that our team has the experience and dedication needed to help apprentices like Kaylee thrive.”

We were also recently shortlisted for the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards in the ‘Large Employer’ category, recognising our ongoing commitment to nurturing future talent.
