Primary School delighted by Housing Plus Group’s donation to summer fayre
A Shropshire village primary school teamed up with Housing Plus Group to throw a summer fundraiser earlier this month.
Bomere Heath CE Primary School, in Shrewsbury, welcomed parents, children and other members of the community to its Summer Fayre on July 5 this year.
The event was held on school grounds to raise money towards a new outdoor area for its early years and Key Stage One pupils.
Housing Plus Group gave an £800 donation for the event where parents and children were invited to take part in a range of activities, including a school talent show, live music and a bouncy castle.
Our donation was put towards providing entertainment, as well as food and refreshments sold to everyone who attended.
Friends of Bomere Heath Primary School are a small group of volunteers who raise money throughout the year to pay for experiences, equipment and upgrades to the school that normal budgets cannot afford. This year the group applied to Housing Plus Group’s My Community Fund, which supports a wide range of projects run by voluntary groups and organisations across Shropshire and Staffordshire.
As well as holding the Summer Fayre, the group also put on a Christmas Fayre, hold movie nights, run tuck shops and sell ice lollies at the school to raise money.
Roanna Keay is the chair of Friends of Bomere Heath Primary School. She said: “We’re currently trying to raise around £100,000 for a new outdoor area for the younger children at the school.
“We were so pleased to receive the donation from Housing Plus Group for the fayre and it’s been a big help.
“Everyone is struggling at the moment, so trying to raise money is getting harder and harder, so we really appreciate it, and the children will really appreciate it too.”
Other organisations that have recently been supported by our My Community Fund include the Shrewsbury Bereavement Group and the Copthorne Guide and Scout Hut.
Head of Neighbourhoods at Housing Plus Group, Kevin Davies, said: “We are pleased to have been able to support Bomere Heath Primary School with this donation. At Housing Plus Group, we create places people are proud to call home and we’re committed to supporting the communities in which we operate. By providing a donation to the summer fayre, we hope to help raise money for the school that will go towards creating a new outdoor area for pupils to enjoy.”
The My Community Fund, delivered in partnership with Jewson and Efficiency East Midlands Limited (EEM), supports grass-roots organisations in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
