Celebrating Women in Construction Week, National Careers Week and International Women’s Day

Last week (3-9 March) we celebrated Women in Construction Week, National Careers Week and International Women’s Day.

At Housing Plus Group, we believe it’s important that our colleagues reflect the communities we work in and that everyone has the same opportunities to excel in their career.

We’ve shared stories from Director of Development Kerry and Development Manager Charlotte, who are passionate about inspiring female progression in the construction industry. You can hear more from Kerry here and Charlotte here.

We also caught up with senior leaders in our care and support service areas about what it means to be a female leader in the sector and what advice they have for other women who are keen to follow in their footsteps. Hear from Operations Manager of Specialist Supported Housing, Alison, here and from Regional Manager in Care and Support, Laura, here.

On Thursday we heard from women in our organisation who work in operational management and leadership roles that have traditionally been held by men. Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) Manager Adelle and Facilities Manager Caroline shared their experiences here.

Some members of our involved customer groups were in the spotlight too, with Leda, Pam, Annie and Enise discussing the importance of women having a strong voice when it comes to social housing. Read more from Leda, Pam and Annie here and from Enise, here.

And we rounded off the week by hearing from Catherine Dass, Transition Chair of our new Group Board, on the importance of the development of women in the workplace.

You can hear more from Catherine below.
