Housing Plus Group launches apprentice recruitment drive

Aspiring young professionals and those looking to change career paths are being encouraged to take their next step with the launch of a dozen new apprenticeship opportunities at Housing Plus Group (HPG).

The new roles form part of HPG’s ongoing commitment to investing in local talent, creating career pathways and developing the future of the housing sector workforce.

The apprenticeships will offer successful applicants the opportunity to earn while they learn, gaining hands-on experience alongside achieving industry recognised qualifications across a variety of roles and departments.

From supporting customers and our communities to gaining understanding and experience across business operations, housing and trade roles – depending on their chosen career paths, and all while being supported by experienced colleagues throughout.

These latest apprenticeships vary from training roles in Housing, Business Administration, Legal and Surveying to trades roles in Plumbing, Carpentry and Plastering.

The roles are open to people at all different stages of their careers – whether they are leaving school or college, hoping to build new skills in a meaningful sector or looking for a change.

Catherine Morgan-Trainor, Early Careers and Apprenticeships Specialist at HPG, added: “We’re proud to be creating opportunities for people to start or grow their careers with us through these new apprenticeships in a variety of roles across our organisation.

“Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to gain practical experience, develop confidence, learn and build valuable skills, all while earning a salary and gaining an industry recognised qualification.

“We want people to see social housing as an exciting, rewarding sector where they can make a genuine difference to people’s lives in our communities.”

Current apprentices across the Group are also helping to promote the new opportunities by sharing their own experiences and encouraging others to consider applying.

Angus Fleming, who is an Electrician Apprentice at HPG, said: “My apprenticeship has given me an amazing opportunity to see a variety of things, and get out there and do it for myself.

“My mentor, Ryan has been incredible – I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. He’s taken me under his wing and given me encouragement throughout. My colleagues across the organisation are brilliant too, they’re always happy to support where they can.”

Olivia Deakin, Legal Apprentice who is training to be a Paralegal, said: “I would absolutely recommend an apprenticeship here at Housing Plus Group, it’s a fantastic place to work and the support you get is amazing.

“For me, the best thing about doing an apprenticeship has been the learning and exposure to the Paralegal role, as well as gaining an understanding of how things work in Legal. It’s really interesting.”

HPG currently has more than 100 colleagues enrolled in apprenticeship programmes.
