Care Plus shortlisted for two national awards
We are delighted to learn that Care Plus has been shortlisted for not one but TWO awards in the national Housing with Care Awards!
These awards celebrate excellence in accommodation and services in retirement living communities like the ones that we manage in towns and villages throughout Staffordshire and Shropshire.
In the first year that the Housing with Care awards have been presented, Care Plus has been named a finalist for both the Employer and the Housing Team titles.
“With 57 retirement living communities in local neighbourhoods, recognition as a leading housing with care employer is really important to us,” said Les Clarke, executive director of housing and care. “The judges are looking for inspiring organisations, investing in employees, buildings and services to offer a great place to work.”
As a not-for-profit employer, our staff benefit from occupational sick pay as well as free access to 24:7 GP consultations, nutrition, fitness and smoking cessation support and mental health practitioners. Our ‘Show your appreciation’ campaign celebrates outstanding employees recognised by customers or colleagues, who can receive one of our monthly ‘thank you’ vouchers.
The dedicated housing team at Care Plus is also in line for an award.
The Housing Team Award recognises colleagues working together to deliver excellent services for customers. Managing almost 2000 retirement living properties, our retirement living officers have important tenancy responsibilities, ensuring that customers are safe and happy in their homes.
Working with our in-house repairs and money advice teams, retirement living officers can call on our skilled care workers and 24:7 telecare when residents need temporary or long-term personal care. Closer links with our Homes Plus general lettings service are helping older tenants downsize into manageable accommodation and freeing-up much needed family homes.
95% of customers say they are happy in our retirement living communities and the same percentage tell us they feel safe and secure.
“Our housing team makes an outstanding contribution to the success of our retirement living communities,” said Sue Atkins, head of specialist supported housing at Care Plus. “It is wonderful to see them recognised at such a high level and we will have our fingers crossed for the team when the awards are presented!”
The winners of the Housing with Care Awards are being announced on 9 June.
