Housing Plus Group achieves Silver Award for championing Armed Forces community
Housing Plus Group has been awarded the Silver Award from the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), recognising its ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The ERS awards celebrate organisations that go above and beyond to support serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families, and actively promote the Armed Forces Covenant.
Housing Plus Group, which provides 34,000 homes and services to communities across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford & Wrekin, has built on its previous achievements to secure Silver status, demonstrating sustained and meaningful support for defence personnel in both its workforce and the communities it serves.
The organisation is a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and has continued to embed its principles across its policies, partnerships and day-to-day operations.
The organisation provides up to 10 days’ fully paid leave for reservists and additional leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. Housing Plus also actively promotes opportunities for veterans, service leavers and military families through its recruitment processes and celebrates Armed Forces Week and other key moments in the calendar
Housing Plus Group currently employs veterans, reservists, cadet volunteers and military spouses, underlining its commitment to being a forces-friendly employer.
Beyond its workforce, the Group is playing an active role in supporting the wider Armed Forces community. Housing Plus Group works with local partners to provide housing options and tailored support for Armed Forces veterans and service leavers, helping them transition successfully into civilian life.
Its work includes partnering with organisations such as the Shropshire Army Cadet Force Trust and supporting cadet facilities locally and offering work experience, employment pathways and volunteering opportunities for cadets and service leavers
Nick Grubb, Regional Director Housing Plus Group, said:
“Achieving the Silver Award is something we’re incredibly proud of. It reflects the genuine commitment we have across the organisation to supporting people who serve, or who have served, in the Armed Forces.
“From offering practical support in the workplace to creating opportunities in our communities, we’re committed to making a lasting difference. This recognition is a significant milestone for us, and we’re determined to keep building on it.”
Housing Plus Group is committed to strengthening its support even further, with ambitions to progress to Gold Award status in the future, and continue developing opportunities for veterans, reservists and military families.
