Opening week is a success at our new Burton Square Community Hub!
Our brand-new Burton Square Community Hub, in Stafford, welcomed 30 customers in its opening week.
Our first Community Hub in Staffordshire opened on 10 July to offer face-to-face help and advice to customers on a range of issues.
It’s opening week proved to be a success with 30 customers calling in to ask for help writing a CV, advice on the benefits they could be entitled to and how to best manage their finances.
In addition to these valuable services, customers have also been coming to use our computers and Wi-Fi to practice their IT skills or chat to us about employment opportunities at Housing Plus Group.
Nigel was one of our first customers to visit the Hub on opening day. He said: “It’s something that is definitely needed in this area, it really is.
“I currently volunteer for a charity shop, but I’ve come in today to get a bit of help with my CV.
“I’m looking forward to getting started on my CV and hopefully getting into a paid job.”
Christine also visited on opening day. She said: “It’s beautiful and it will be useful for customers to come in and get advice one to one.
“It’s good to know that it exists and I think it’s going to be very useful.”
Claire Poulson, Employment & Money Advice Team Leader for Staffordshire, said: “The Burton Square Community Hub is a one stop shop for our customers, and the wider public, to get help and support.
“We know that many of our customers are facing huge challenges at the moment and we want to offer as much support as possible.
“We’ve also partnered with the charity Period Power to provide free sanitary products at the Hub which people can take as and when they need them.
“Working with our customers is such an important part of what we do at Homes Plus and it’s brilliant that we now have a dedicated space in Staffordshire to be able to do this.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming many more customers into the Hub in the coming weeks and months.”
Les Clarke, Executive Director of Housing and Care, said: “These are difficult times for everybody and some people need extra help. We believe it is important to do what we can to support our communities and I am sure this new Hub in the heart of Burton Square will benefit all the residents in the area.”
Burton Square Community Hub is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-12.30pm and 1pm-4pm.
Address: Burton Square, Rising Brook, Stafford ST17 9LT.
