Homes Plus continues support for Staffordshire’s Best Kept Village & Community competition
A much-loved contest encouraging residents of Staffordshire villages to take pride in their local community has received another boost from our Homes Plus My Community Fund.
We are continuing our support for the county’s Best Kept Village & Community competition, organised by the Community Foundation for Staffordshire & Shropshire.
Homes Plus Director of Housing, Samantha Allcott, explained: “The competition has a rich history, and we have supported it through sponsorship for a number of years.
“In 2024, we will again be making a donation to the organisers, helping them to deliver an initiative that helps to bring communities together while celebrating their unique qualities.”
As well as highlighting how communities work together to make where they live desirable, and a place they are proud to call home, the competition emphasises how much voluntary work is undertaken to keep Staffordshire beautiful.
Villages are judged on maintenance, appearance and community spirit, and top honours are also up for grabs in supplementary competitions, including one for children’s posters.
Judging started earlier this month, with auctioneer Richard Winterton – well-known for his appearances on TV antiques shows including Bargain Hunt and Dickinson’s Real Deal – visiting entrants to present special complementary signage for display throughout the community.
Jo Cooper, partnerships and project manager for the Community Foundation, commented: “We are thrilled to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to Homes Plus for their fantastic support!
“With their sponsorship from the Housing Plus Community Fund, we’re all set to keep the spirit of Staffordshire alive through our cherished Best Kept Village & Community competition for another year as we celebrate the legacy dating back to 1956 and the vibrant community spirit that makes our county shine!”
