Plans submitted in Kinver
A planning application to create purpose-built accommodation for older people in Kinver has been submitted. Housing Plus Group has applied to build 23 self-contained, accessible apartments replacing eight bungalows at The Burgesses.
The plans will deliver additional homes suitable for older people who want to live independently. A new, purpose-built development will offer self-contained apartments, social space and access to great care and support.
To ensure that current residents have as much time and support as possible to find a new home, development is being approached in two stages. The Group is proposing to start work at the Burgesses towards the end of this year and create new housing at Mill House in 2020.
A full-time rehousing support officer is helping residents choose alternative accommodation. Mary Taylor was one of the first residents to make the move. She has moved into a new home near to her daughter in Kinver:
“I lived at The Burgesses for five years and although it’s a lovely community, my bungalow was small, cold and damp. Because it backs onto the woods there was very little natural light and I had my lights on, all day. I’m going to be very happy in my lovely sunny new home.
“I think the development is good news for the village, too. We need more homes designed for older people, so we can live comfortably and safely, near our friends and families.”
