The Sandford Nursing Home celebrates 5 Star food hygiene rating

The Sandford Nursing Home, which is part of Care Plus, is celebrating success on a plate after a recent inspection resulted in a five-star food hygiene rating.

Scored from zero to five stars, food hygiene ratings are given to all businesses preparing, handling and serving food – including nursing homes. Regular inspections ensure that high standards of hygiene are maintained and that food is safe to eat.

Inspectors visiting our popular nursing home in Church Stretton have awarded the highest grade of five stars for its restaurant, with an overall rating of ‘Very Good’.

The dedicated kitchen team at The Sandford works hard to provide residents with a varied menu designed to be nutritious as well as irresistible. Meals are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and there is an emphasis on great home cooking.

The home previously received a platinum award in the Shropshire Healthy Eating Awards in recognition of the healthy food choices offered to residents, well-trained staff and good food hygiene procedures.

Leesha Crocombe, manager at The Sandford, said “We are delighted to once again receive a five-star food hygiene rating. It is well-deserved recognition for everything that this amazing team does to serve good quality, nutritional meals.”

Angie Jackson, Head of health, care and wellbeing at Care Plus, said “Well done to everyone at The Sandford for achieving this excellent food hygiene rating, which is great news.” She continued: “We are very proud of The Sandford, which combines a happy, welcoming atmosphere with luxurious accommodation and nursing-led care. This is a place to call home when you are ready to take life easy and we are committed to maintaining the highest possible standards for our residents.”
